Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, has earned certification from Being a national standard body (BIS) that regulates the quality guideline for the manufacturer’s goods. In December 2021, Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter testified their Zinc & Lead product and manufacturing process as per the BIS Quality Compliance, providing customers with product quality and reliability assurance. The company successfully completed the BIS audit and was awarded licences for Lead & Zinc. The certification is in line with Government of India’s vision to produce top-quality products in India and will make consumers more aware regarding quality leading to enhanced trust in domestic and foreign markets.
The National Standard Body of India, BIS, was founded for the harmonious development of standardisation, marking, and quality certification of goods, as well as matters connected with or incidental matters. BIS has provided traceability and tangibility benefits to the national economy in a variety of ways, including providing safe, trustable quality goods, minimising health risks to consumers, promoting exports and import substitutes, and controlling variety proliferation through standardisation, certification, and testing.
Additionally, the zinc and lead metal produced at Hindustan Zinc is a recognised brand on the London Metal Exchange (LME). LME ingots are recognised globally as one of the most demanding standards, indicating high product quality, uniform physical characteristics, and ingot accuracy. As a result, the capability and commitment to meet world-class standards are reinforced.
This BIS accreditation will benefit galvanizers as well as serve as a badge of assurance and reliability on the galvanising process in sectors such as infrastructure, automotive industry, construction, household appliances, steel furniture, and other applications where BIS compliance products are mandatory.
