Udaipur : Strengthening its belief towards women empowerment, Hindustan Zinc inaugurated two Shop in Shop model to promote and expand the reach of the products produced by the Sakhi Microenterprises under the brand name “Daichi. The Shop in Shop model will have diverse range of products like Spices, Pickles, Oil, Honey and Ghee produced by the rural women of Sakhi Microenterprises. More than 250 rural women of Sakhi Self-help group are moving towards sustainable livelihood through Sakhi Microenterprise.The Sakhi women at present are involved in the production and processing of these products which are meticulously prepared in a traditional manner without compromising on quality and hygiene.
The exposure and upliftment in the sales will bring a significant change in the lives of all the SHG women involved in the preparation of these products. An upsurge in production will render a sustainable livelihood and will further stabilize their economic condition.Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, through its community development initiatives has been continuously working to provide platforms for facilitating rural women’s meaningful involvement in socio-economic activities.The distinctive Sakhi Women Empowerment initiatives led Hindustan Zinc to be honoured with a ‘Leaders for Social Change’ award by the Social Story Foundation. Sakhi project continues to act as a beacon of hope for thousands of Sakhis from across the villages and is further transforming not just their life but impacting the entire community. Sakhi is one of the most unique and largest women empowerment programmes in the country with the objective to bring socio-economic empowerment amongst rural & tribal women by mobilising them into self-help groups. Sakhi has been implemented across five districts in Rajasthan, namely, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, and Udaipur along with the Uddham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand.Sakhi has fostered 1,157 small and nano enterprises as well as 7 collective enterprises. So far, Sakhi has been positively
